Since when does vacation mean checking out of the family, and not doing the chores you are supposed to do? I have a right to a shower in a clean tub. You bathed the cats (your job), you should clean the tub (also your job). In the mean time, I'll continue to change the diapers, cook the food, wash the clothes, feed the cats, scoop the litter box (used to be your job), vacuum, dust, etc., etc., etc.
God save me from lazy MEN!

Ok, I am usually a very observant person and stuff. Right? So sue me if the fact that Gabe's 4th birthday is only a month away just hit me. I haven't even thought about it, and the inlaws are asking me what they can get him. I mean....does he even need anything right now? Can't you just give him some money or something? lol This child doesn't NEED a thing. He has more toys than he can use, plenty of clothes, and socks and shoes.....what can I possibly tell them? Oh well, I'm sure I'll think of something. I have to figure out if I'm gonna bake a cake or buy one...I think I'll make one again this year, but I'll get some Diego stuff to put on it. Yeah, thats what I'll do. Now....what sort of fun activities will I have to plan to amuse and occupy said inlaws. Oh, did I mention that they are coming? Sorry if I'm in denial about it, sheesh.1 comment - Leave a comment
This is another "by the way" thing.... Look at the next 2 pics. I can hardly believe its the same kid. Did you know that Gabe is taller than some of the 5 year olds in our neighborhood? Well, go figure.

South Carolina Autism Insurance Bill PassedLeave a comment
Legislature Overrides Governor's Veto to Pass Comprehensive Insurance Mandate
The South Carolina House and Senate overrode Gov. Mark Sanford's 11th hour veto of a bill requiring health insurance coverage for individuals with autism spectrum disorder. The bill, “Ryan's Law”, previously passed by both the House and Senate, was vetoed on June 6, 2007 by the Governor, and was brought back to the floor on June 7, where the House and Senate voted unanimously to override the veto.
The South Carolina autism insurance initiative will require insurance companies in the state to provide medical coverage for persons who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder by age eight, with continuing coverage through sixteen years of age for treatments prescribed by a medical doctor. Included is coverage for behavioral therapy up to $50,000 a year. This bill is a compromise bill on which the South Carolina autism community and the South Carolina insurance industry have agreed. This is one of the most extensive autism insurance mandates in the country to date.
The effort to pass this bill was directed largely by a group of dedicated parents in South Carolina led by Lorri Unumb, along with Marcella Ridley, Lisa Rollins and Derrick Howle.
“Thank you to all the parents of South Carolina for writing letters, visiting legislators, and calling to help pass this bill,” Unumb said. “Each and every person who picked up the phone or sent an email truly made a difference.”
The bill's name, Ryan's Law, is in honor of Unumb's six year old son.

Jun. 1st, 2007 09:05 am Things that didn't suck in the last few days.
So the other noght I decided to go to the movies. Our multiplex has 12 theaters....12! And how many movies are playing right now? 4....you heard me! 4.
So I picked the best of the lot, and saw the third pirates movie. Let me tell ya, if you like them you'll love this one! I did, at least. Orlando Bloom was looking veddy niiiiice. So that didn't suck.
Since all my "shows" are off for the summer (Lost til FEB!?!?!?!), I thought I was gonna give tv a pass. None of the new shows look even remotely interesting. But....BUT! I found a little gem in my opinion. On USA last night was the first epi of "The STarter Wife" with Debra Messing. Can I just say that I loved it?!? Really. When that girl isn't acting all flighty as Grace, she can really act. Just a cute show. It may suck later, but for right now I like it.
School is out. Gabe has summer school on wednesdays. All it is for is so he can get his therapies through summer. So its nice. He can say 3 words now. Up, high (hi), and bubble. Its a small (HUGE) breakthrough for us. And he is starting the process of potty training. He hasn't actually gone in the potty yet, but the desire is there. So we'll keep trying.
That is all. Love you all. *muaah*

DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! I love the zombie movie. Really.
28 Weeks Later, is even better than 28 Days Later. If you like zombie movies, this is the one for you. I drove home expecting a ravening blood-spittin zombie to jump out at any moment. If you like your brain happy and zombie apocolypse free....ummm...skip this one. Trust me.

Dec. 19th, 2006 08:01 pm News of da world, but not really.
So I have been working like a dog, at work and home. I have barely even been on my computer for like 3 weeks now. But I guess you know that. hee
I have been working a little here and there while Gabe is in school, on top of my regular schedule which has me working pretty much anytime John is not. And John's holiday schedule has been so busy, I have had to go on the down low and do his bread job in the afternoons and some evenings. Sheesh! Thus my eternal business. My apologies to Bemusing and family for being sooooo neglectful. I would never let our friendship slip. I hope you know that.
The news in wally world is that I got my 90 day review today. Another reason to be in walmart on my day off. And as I had hoped, I got "Exceeds all expectations". And the full 60cent raise. So that was very nice. And because they had to call me in to give my eval to me, I got paid for 4 hours for about 10 minutes of "work".
I think I am the only person there that likes it. To hear EVERYONE (and I mean everyone) talk, you'd think they were being made to go there every day against their will. Everyone hates it there and does nothing but bitch and gossip. I do my best to stay out of that. Which is why my eval was good, I guess. meh.
At home....we have been busy as a family too. Actually having money to christmas shop has kept us busy. And as usual, when we have money, its hard to find things to spend it on. But we perservere.
John (and I) traded my old escort in and got him an 02 Kia Rio. Very cheap and looks brand new. The escort was on its last legs, so it was a preemptive strike. And we had a friend at the dealership looking out for just this type of car for us. So now we have 2 car payments, but I really can't complain about that either. Its only about $130 a month (see? CHEAP!), not too bad.
Tomorrow is the class Christmas party at the preschool. And a "special guest" is supposed to be showing up. Huzzah. Probably the principal in a Santa suit. hee Can't wait to see Gabe's reaction. He knows who Santa is, but he doesn't really get that he brings presents. Maybe next year for that one. But it should be fun for all.
I hope to get back to normal after christmas. I'll still be working, but not nearly as much, of course. Love and happy holidays to my beloved friends. *smoochies*

Oct. 24th, 2006 11:02 am Good bye dear friend.
Today I say goodbye to my dearest friend , Slick. A beautiful lab-spaniel mix with the friendliest disposition ever. Slick is old, and sick, so he is being "put down" today. I have loved that dog as much as I love my own son at times. So my heart aches with the memories and wet doggy kisses that I have left in my mind.
Slick came to my family as a wanderer at the lake. He wandered into our family with a bad case of neglect and heart worms. Who were we to shut him out? So he became my brother and a fixture on the lake scene. He used to love to fish in the lake. He's roam for hours chest deep in water looking for fish, rocks, sticks, frogs, anything to dive in and grab. He loved to dive under after a rock that was thrown, snorting and blowing water when came up....with the very rock you threw in. From all the rocks, he could get YOUR rock. It was amazing. He could dive head first into deep water after a stick, and then swim it back to shore. And to merely say that he "loved" squirrels would be a gross understatement.
Almost all of my friends and family have met Slick. And most of them fell in love with that sweetie. The "best dog ever" won't begin to tell you how much he meant to me and my family. A loss we will feel forever, and stories that will endure for a lifetime. Rest in divine peace, Slick. I love you.
As if this isn't sad enough, my mom's dog, Toby is also being "put down" today. For various reasons, all sad. Toby was a Lhasa Ahpso, and for the most part he was a pain in the ass. I did love him as much as he would let me, but he was a one person dog. And that person was my mom. She is devastated and heart borken, and I feel it for her. Rest in peace too, Toby. You were a good friend to a lady who needed it.

Oct. 22nd, 2006 04:29 pm Two things that don't suck.
"A Cooks Tour" by Anthony Bourdain
Not a cook book in the least. Just the most entertaining read I have had in a long time. You can taste the food as he describes it. He made eating cobra entrails in Viet Nam sound delicious.
"Over the Hedge"
Made Gabe and I laugh out loud for over an hour. Very cute and the extra short with Hammy is good for a squeal.

This is very upsetting. I used to watch the Crocodile Hunter all the time. Its hard to believe he's passed away. You have to give him credit, though. HE went out doing the work he loved the most.

So Sept. 12 will make 3 months on weight watchers. I'm happy with my results, and the fact that I have never felt deprived. I went to the chinese buffet and lived....twice! And in my (almost) 3 months, I have lost about 25 pounds. I got the message from weight watchers about my "rapid" weight loss. They want me to slow it down and pace myself. I'm all for that, but I added exercise to my life, so I'm going with the flow. I have been eating hershey kisses...yummy! At a half a point each, they are worth it to get my chocolate fix.
My family and friend(s)are super supportive and proud of me. Thanks! So this part of my life is going great.
